Everest Base Camp is always a dreamy tourist destination for most travelers in the world. Standing on this base camp, you can have the best view of the grand Mt Everest. If the weather is fine, you can see the snow-capped summit clearly even in a far distance. Here, I’d like to share a classic tour route about seven days Everest Base Camp tour. During this trip, you can visit many famous attractions in Tibet such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, and so on. The complete itinerary of this trip is listed as follows.

Day 1: Lhasa Arrival

Today is your first day in Lhasa. You will meet your tour guide at the train station or the airport when you arriving in Lhasa, the tour guide will take you to your hotel directly. After you check in the hotel,  The day is free for you. You’d better have a rest in your hotel because you need time to adapt to the high altitude sickness. If you feel well, you can go out for a walk, and take some beautiful photos.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour

Today you will visit three famous attractions in Lhasa. The first place you will visit is the Potala Palace. As the landmark of Lhasa, the Potala Palace has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the world. In the past, it was used as the winter palace for Dalai Lama. While at present, it has become a modern museum with lots of ancient Tibetan antiques. Then your tour guide will drive you to the Jokhang Temple where you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. As the holiest temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple has become a hot destination for the pious pilgrims. Every day a lot of pilgrims from remote Tibetan areas walk to this holy place to do pray. After visiting the temple, your tour guide will take you to visit the Barkhor Street. This is the busiest street in Tibet, where you can buy a lot of the traditional Tibetan items.  You can also drink a cup of tea in a local tea house, what a leisure day!

Day 3: Lhasa Tour

Today, you will visit three other popular scenic spots in Lhasa. Firstly, you will head to the Drepung Monastery where you can see the biggest monastery kitchen. Secondly, you will visit the Sera Monastery where the hot Buddhism debate is held.

Day 4: From Lhasa to Shigatse

After breakfast, you will be driven to Shigatse. The scenery along the way is beautiful. You can enjoy the charming Yamdrok-tso,  Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, the Korola Glacier, Manak Dam Lake, Pelkor Monastery, Gyantse Kumbum, Gyangtse Fortress, etc.

Day 5: From Shigatse to EBC

There is a famous monastery which you can’t miss – that is the Tashilunpo Monastery. After the tour in the monastery, your tour guide will take you to Lhatse town, pass Tsola Pass, Gyatsola Pass, Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve. Finally, you will arrive at the Everest Base Camp.

Day 6: From EBC to Gyirong Border

After enjoying the stunning sunrise on EBC, you will head to Rongbuk Monastery. Then, you will be driven to Gyirong Port.

Day 7: Enter Nepal Border
